Medusa's story continues viciously as Perseus the son of Zeus and a mortal woman Danae is asked from king Polydectes to kill Medusa. King Polydectes sent Perseus to kill her as a gift to him marrying his mother as he couldnt bring anything else. In fact Polydectes wanted him to get killed in this mission so he couldn't steal his throne. Perseus though beheaded medusa, used her head to turn Polydectes into a stone and offered Medusa's head to the goddess Athena as she putted her head in her shield. The moral behind the tragic story of Medusa brings us face to face with a myth based on a patriarchal society and what its standards are. An abused woman grew as a beast inside people's head and as creature than can be used only for causing pain and achieving personal interests. Whenever the male power is threatened, Medusa, the archetypal unruly woman, shows up to indicate the dangers of the female actions.
